Your Insurance and Renting Out Your Home
Home sharing has become more and more popular over the past few years with companies like Airbnb and Homeway. But before renting out a room or the whole house, it’s always best to consult with your insurance agent to make sure you have the right coverage. Below is a blog that gives a some information to consider before you begin home sharing.
Home-sharing continues to grow in popularity as owners use their homes for income generation, and travelers look for unique experiences. If fact, experts are predicting vacation home rentals will increase 25% this year – up from a 19% jump last year – and it’s expected this growth trend will continue for some time.
This month’s employee spotlight is on the wonderful Karen Fournier in our Taos office. She has been with Brown & Brown for nearly 5 years, about as long as she has been in Taos. Karen and her husband Gary have been married for 32 years and have two sons and three grandkids. Karen also says that she loves to travel with her husband—they especially like cruising. For fun closer to home, Karen says that she and Gary love to downhill ski and golf (and Taos is perfect for both of those!). She is such a help to everyone in the Taos office and we all are so happy to have her as part of our team.
Our employee spotlight this month is on the wonderful Lupe Watters. Lupe has been in commercial insurance for over 20 years. Most recently, she became Brown & Brown’s Risk and Safety Analyst, and she absolutely loves it. She enjoys working closely with the producers and clients.
Lupe has been married 25 years. She also has 2 sons, both recently graduated college—one from UNM and one from NMSU. While she loves to travel, Lupe loves living here in NM. Lupe says that she loves to cook for ANYONE who will eat the finished product. And, trust us, everyone in the office LOVES that she loves to cook—her food is often gone within minutes of showing up.
This month’s employee spotlight is on the wonderful Barbara Thomas. Barb is located in our Taos office and has been with Brown & Brown for almost 23 years. She has even had the pleasure of meeting Hyatt Brown when he came to Taos. Because she is so active in the community, Barb has become the office liaison for many community organizations.
As Barb says, she is a person of the sixties, so Taos is the perfect community for her and her husband of 52 years. Along with her husband, she has one daughter and son-in-law and one gran
dson. Besides her work at Brown & Brown, Barb also curates art shows, is a textile artist, and makes teepees in her spare time.
