street with trees and snowImagine a quaint mountain town during a snowstorm, sitting by a fire, after an amazing day and delicious meal. Your winter wonder is here, all you need to do is stop by.

Taos has something for everybody.  To start, lodging can be high scale hotels in Taos Ski Valley to my favorite funky motel El Pueblo Lodge in town.  Both bring a warm and friendly atmosphere to enhance your travel and time visiting.

There is so much to do here, so let’s start with a few of the indoor activities that will keep you cozy during the winter chill.  Cooking Studio Taos offers cooking classes for all levels, from a few individuals to larger groups. The classes last around 5 hours and are hosted by Valerie and her husband Chef Chris Maher who is nationally acclaimed, James Beard-recognized chef. The dishes are inspiring and look so tasty.

For a fun day of art, sign up for a pottery class at Taos Clay or sign up for a 1 or 2 day workshop with Stephen Kilborn who is a well-known artist accomplished in watercolorist and acrylic painter.

Taos is a mecca for natural body and soul attention, take a moment to rejuvenate at a local day spa.  Start with a yoga class, enjoy a message and then immerse in serene hot springs to feel your best.

If the outdoors is your playing ground, you will not miss a beat.  Head up to Taos Ski Valley for world class skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and more.  Have you every snowshoed during a full moon? Check out the Full Moon Snowshoe guided tours available for both adults and kids (get with your tour company for ages) – they say if you can walk you can snowshoe.

Now that you have made it to Taos, you cannot leave without seeing the Rio Grande Gorge.  The Gorge is located about 15 minutes from town. Park and walk on the bridge to take as many pictures as you wish – it is an amazing sight. Feel like walking/hiking or mountain biking – there is an out and back trail just off the parking area that takes you along the side of the Gorge about 15 miles with forever views.

Head back into town to enjoy your favorite local cuisine that is bound to satisfy and finish your evening with a stroll through historic Taos Plaza.

During your visit, your health and safety is top priority.  Please review the COVID-19 protocols for each activity and event before heading out for fun.
